2020 has been a year to remember. Life as we knew it, ceased to exist. No more larger gatherings, no more sharing drinks or food and no more blowing candles on top of a cake!
A lot of us were forced to stay put wherever we were and put all our plans on hold. For some of us, it forced us to re-evaluate the important stuff in our life: Our career choices, our lifestyle, our health and even our habits.
A lot might have changed in 2020 but at the same time, there’s a lot which has remained constant in…
I had a problem. I simply couldn’t sleep more than 4–5 hours at a stretch on any given night.
I had another problem — Sleep when it did come, used to be mostly broken, very light, hardly refreshing and would leave me tired in the morning!
It reached a point where I started telling people that sleep and I don’t get along and prided myself on getting by with less sleep.
Until I started working out regularly.
Sleep has a tremendous impact on how well your body recovers. Not only that, lack of sleep inhibits the growth of good cells…
There is this moment in every action movie where the movie's hero is in a spot that seems impossible to get out of.
But then they always seem to survive! Have you ever wondered if such survival is possible in real life? No matter the scene, there is always this moment where you see the main character thinking. They calmly assess the situation, find potential exit points, and flipping through multiple scenarios in their head.
And all this while engaging in a conversation with the villain.
In essence, you will realize they stay calm, speak clearly, and don’t get nervous.
Happiness isn’t actually very complicated. We have been brainwashed to think that it is this hard mountain that we need to climb. Something that we need to aspire towards and pursue.
The truth however is completely different — as different as chalk and cheese.
Happiness is an inside job. You have within you, at all times the elixir of happiness which you need to get back in touch with!
All you need is 5 minutes to boost your happiness. Got 5 minutes? Then read on . . .
I am sure you have songs that you listen to when you…
We all have to-do lists.
For most of us, this list keeps getting longer as the days progress — not because we procrastinate but because more work comes our way.
Sooner or later, we dread looking at this list because of the sheer number of tasks overwhelms us.
Does this experience sound familiar?
I’ve experienced this dread multiple times in the last few years.
I am big on lists. I like the quick rush of dopamine I get from checking tasks off the list, but after a while, it starts to seem like I am a hamster running on a…
Let’s be honest here for a second — We all want our time to be worth something.
We do what we do hoping it will lead to something good that will come back to us whether now or in the future. We do it with our time, we do it with our money and we do it by putting in the effort.
Some of us of course make it big in the process — we become famous, win awards and get a cult following. …
Life today is easy and comfortable. There is no real danger we are exposed to in our lifetime and most people live to be old as life expectancy around the world is increasing.
Our ancestors on the other hand, had to fight anything which could kill them -predators, aggression from other species and starvation among other things. They faced real dangers and as we evolved, our brain learned from their experiences.
One of our brain’s important functions is to think but let’s be honest — when was the last time you actually took time to think?
I can bet thinking is not on your calendar or your To Do List. Is it?
Our world is full of distractions so taking time out to really think is something we find very hard to do. With our gadgets at an arm reach, any idle moment usually goes to twiddling our thumbs over a screen with blue light. Our busy life has become busier with the coming of smartphones, social media and online streaming.
Meet Spark. Caught between two worlds, Spark was exactly like every other frog in his pond with one notable exception. Spark emerges from a tadpole with a slight but noticeable orange spot. And this orange spot makes Spark feel uncomfortably different.
What’s more, Spark begins to make a disconcerting observation; when Spark does things which make him feel better (and produce more positive results) the orange spots increase. Spark is left with a difficult decision; be normal, which makes him less conspicuous, or continue doing those things which make him happier, more productive and more orange.
Unfortunately, we don’t have…
Creativity — it is like that elusive date which keeps ghosting you.
And you have no clue why.
After all, you have everything you need to be creative. Then what could really be going wrong for you to not get along with it?
You had interesting conversations. You even spent hours daydreaming about the first time you guys meet.
But for all of it to go nowhere.
Well, have you ever thought that maybe unconsciously, you are acting in ways which are pushing creativity away? In fact, it is so natural for you to act the way you do that…
