According To Warren Buffet, This One Habit Will Change Your Life

You cannot improve your life by following a to-do list

One of our brain’s important functions is to think but let’s be honest — when was the last time you actually took time to think?

I can bet thinking is not on your calendar or your To Do List. Is it?

Our world is full of distractions so taking time out to really think is something we find very hard to do. With our gadgets at an arm reach, any idle moment usually goes to twiddling our thumbs over a screen with blue light. Our busy life has become busier with the coming of smartphones, social media and online streaming.

You might believe that people who think on their feet are smart but on the contrary, smart people take their time to think. Warren Buffet spends 80% of his time thinking. Bill Gates is famously known to take 2 weeks in a year to just read and think.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become. ~ Buddha

Why Think Time Is Important

You cannot improve your life by following a to-do list. You improve it by thinking. The quality of your choices depend on your ability to think. Thinking will help you clear your mind. It will help you understand who you are, allowing you to question your beliefs and doubts in life. Time spent thinking will help you evaluate the choices you have made and the life you are living.

Thinking is the only way to figure things out. It allows the brain to connect two completely unrelated topics. One thought at a time, the brain is able to make connections others might have missed. Albert Einstein believed he wasn’t smarter than his peers, he only stayed with the problem longer. It is not a surprise then that it took him 10 years to publish his theory of relativity.

If you are nowhere close to having the life you want, it is not because you are not doing enough, it is because you are not stopping to think and evaluate your choices. You might be doing enough but if you are climbing the ladder leaning against the wrong wall, it is only going to bring you closer to the wrong things in life faster!

Information hits us at an astounding rate today! Thinking gives us the ability to sort lies from the truth and news from fake news — one of the greatest challenges we struggle with today.

Putting time aside to think will allow your brain to synthesize all the information you come across. This will help you make an informed decision. Instead of getting overwhelmed with all the choices and the informational, you will be able to calmly come to a conclusion and be sure about it.

Thinking is also essential to conscious living. If we don’t take time to pause and think, we tend to get carried away with the crowd. Just like the silence between jokes is what makes the content great, stopping to think in between all the madness life throws at you will make your life worth living.

So, make the space for what could happen. Sit with your thoughts and pay attention to where they waft off to. Let it wander. Recognize the twitches which run through the small 3 pound mass inside your skull for it might lead you to a life changing discovery.
